Remarkable Ways Animals Take Care of Us

The Species Link Journal archives are filled with thoughtful and amazing articles written by beginning and advanced animal communicators. Amy Richardson wrote this article for the July 1993 issue after attending an animal communication course I taught at Spring Farm Cares in Clinton, New York. It is a wonderful example of how much we can learn from our wise animal friends when we listen to them. It shows how they consciously help us because of their evolved consciousness and love. It confounds the limited thinking about animal awareness that people who have not awakened to their ability to telepathic communication with the rest of life may hold.

Rabbit Revelations

To say that your seminar at Spring Farm was life-changing for me is an understatement! I had no idea that my animals would have so much to say to me when I got home…but, boy, was I in for a surprise!

We have eight animal companions: three dogs, four cats, and our rabbit, Emery. They were all overjoyed when we came home, and I could hear most of them immediately. I also heard a group of my plants, who live out in Owen’s studio room, singing the loveliest song. When everyone calmed down a bit, Emery asked me to chase him. I did, and as we were running around his room, I heard him say, "Wheeeeee!" Then we sat on the couch together, and the communications flowed. I believe that he is a master spirit.

I asked him why so many of my animals have cancer (two dogs and one cat; the other dog and one cat have little tumors on their heads and backs; Emery has a little tumor on his back, too). He said it was because our house was poisoned, that there was something in the ground (he showed me a picture of our basement and then said "under there"). The animals came into the house to shield us from the poison, and that’s why so many had come to us. He also said that my mother’s spirit remains in my house for the same reason. (Mom died in a car accident in November 1983, and ever since her death, the light in our kitchen "talks" to us.)

I was so upset because he said that we could not stay in the house, and we could not pass it along to someone else, now that we know the truth about it. We live next door to an abandoned gravel quarry, and I suspect that people may be using it for illegal dumping. Naturally, that has us very worried.

Emery also told us that he would help my husband, Owen, to write stories- that when he sat under the chair when Owen was writing, he was trying to send Owen ideas. The stories would help us to pay for a new place to live! He told us that our friend, Mary Holley, would help us to keep our bodies detoxified while we worked to get out of this house. We could stay for five years, but three would be better. As he put it, "How many more of us do you want to protect you? We can't keep going like this!"

My beautiful 12-year-old Golden Retriever, Tamarack, also confirmed the idea of shielding us from toxins. She's loaded with skin cancer. Emery said that now that we know what to do, Tamarack will be leaving us soon.

I was exhausted after talking to Emery and the rest of my animals. I didn't sleep well that night. When I fell asleep, you (Penelope) appeared to me, saying that I must pay attention to what Emery and Tamarack said. Your face and voice came through to me so clearly; it was truly astonishing.

Later, Owen sat down, and Emery told him about 15 children's book titles. Many of them will be about a flying rabbit. Emery says that all animals fly and that blue is his favorite color because it's the color of the sky. He showed Owen a picture of a little chariot being pulled by two stars with flying tails, and many other lovely things.

Also, a little mouse, who told Owen her name was Emily, had come in from outside and wanted to help Owen write. She keeps getting into the birdseed bag where she sleeps. Owen puts Emily outside in the morning, as she can't get out of the 50-pound bag herself. The next day, she's right back again. Emery loves her and is keeping her safe from the cats.

We are looking into soil and water testers to start investigating our property for toxic material. It's going to be incredibly expensive, but, as Emery said, "More expensive than dying of cancer? We can't keep you safe forever." I know we'll find a way to take care of things.

On April 13th, I celebrated my 40th birthday. Owen and I climbed my favorite mountain, where I did a healing affirmation and projected where I want to be in the coming year and the years to come. A great sense of peace and harmony came over me as I looked out over the town, the lakes, and the mountains. It was a gray day, but the sun popped out briefly, and I felt the wink of an acknowledgment. What a great time to be alive!

Thank you for helping us to open up to our wonderful teachers and for guiding us further on our journey.
