Protection from Negative Beings
November 11, 2024 Filed in: Being an Animal Communicator
I bought your animal communication audio recording course but have never practiced them because I have fears and concerns about opening myself up. I have heard and read that there is a danger of coming in contact with negative beings and a need for protection once we open ourselves up.
Does this happen because people do not work on themselves to clear out negative aspects they may have? I have heard that we attract vibrations that are similar to us. As none of us are perfect and are here to learn and grow spiritually, how can we be safe from attacks from negative forces or beings? How can I ensure that I am not attacked or put others in danger from beings that may come through?
To be open or not in life. Whether to experience the joy and the pain, the comforting and the scary, the uplifting emotions and the challenging feelings is a choice. If we close down and stay focused on protection or avoidance as our primary approach to life, we don’t get to feel the fullness of life and miss out. That can be a stultifying dilemma.
We are free to discern and decide what is relevant to us and our mission in life. We have to develop discrimination of what is good for us and what is not, sifting the wheat from the chaff, the supportive from the destructive. We learn from others and our own experience what serves and doesn’t serve us. We can say yes or no to all that life offers, whether dark or light, when we stand grounded in our power and grace.
Some teachers focus on techniques for protection against dark or harmful forces in life, those in the physical, emotional, and spiritual realms. Some of these practices are complex and require extensive training or daily renewal. I have found that different stages in life require different tools for growth and ways of protecting or taking care of ourselves. What is most effective for some people will not necessarily be most effective for others.
In my teaching about becoming an animal communicator, I emphasize cultivating presence and the ability to let energies flow through or past us without hanging onto them or trying to manipulate them in defense. This effective universal practice is used in many spiritual disciplines. Add to that voicing or setting your intention to only attract positive energies that promote your health and service and repelling dark energies by saying a clear “no” to their incursion or presence in your space.
Other practices people have found helpful include:
There was a time in my life when I was facing, clearing, and healing a tremendous amount of childhood abuse material. I felt like a raw egg without a shell, and I needed a cushioning blue egg of energy around me. I prayed a lot to my guides, particularly Divine Mother. During that challenging time, I dreamed a gigantic, black devil was coming after me through a skyscraper window in New York City. Divine Mother told me to hold up a cross. Immediately, the devil was repelled and disappeared. The cross had a modified Celtic design, gold with a mother-of-pearl stone in the center. She told me to find this in the physical world.
I went to the only jeweler in the small nearby town of Point Reyes Station in coastal California to search for it the next day. There was only one cross on display—the cross in my dreams! I asked the jeweler if he had other crosses. He said quickly and directly, “You only need one cross.” It was the most expensive necklace I ever bought, beautiful and powerful. The feeling of protection and comfort it offered was sublime. After months of wearing it continually, I only wore it when guided, sometimes while traveling, to protect myself from stresses and unaligned energies. It helped so much.
Be flexible and find the effective protective or healing practice for you on your journey, which can change over time. None of us travel alone. There are many helpers around us in physical and non-physical forms. Calling on them for assistance strengthens us on our path.
Yes, we attract what mirrors our unhealed issues. This is our dark side, that which we suppress and don’t like facing in ourselves from wounds and traumas received or that we directed at others. Anything that we push away from facing as part of us can attract like velcro its physical likeness in other beings or circumstances. This helps us to see and heal it. That’s why it’s necessary to focus on our spiritual path and do the work we need to do with ourselves to offer service to others. If we don’t handle the pain within us, we often will project it onto others. We may think we’re attacked by evil forces outside us when the stored, suppressed darkness within is hurting us.
There is so much healing to do for the present and historically traumatized human condition evident in the world around us. Everything we do to heal our wounds helps to heal other beings, past, present, and future, even more if we intend that to happen.
In my work as an animal communicator, I’ve found that I or others I’m working with are not in danger of dark forces coming through if I’m centered, grounded, and present, taking good care of myself and competently doing my work. There is always so much to learn when we open and serve. Not only do we benefit others, but we grow ourselves. Being vigilant about what comes up for us that needs loving care, attention, and healing release is the story of our spiritual journey to oneness, wholeness, and home.
Dig into life and communicate with all beings as you are attracted to do. Learn from it all and enjoy facing the light and the dark, integrating them for new dawnings in yourself and all.

- calling upon spiritual guides, including power animals and other benevolent beings to assist you in times of danger or need,
- wearing protective crystals, amulets, herb pouches, or other protective jewelry or clothing, and
- praying to divine beings for assistance and protection.
